Position: Open Rank of Neurology - Associate Director of ADRC

Position Summary

The University of New Mexico Center for Memory & Aging (CMA) and the Department of Neurology invite applications for a new open rank, open track faculty position. The selected applicant will be Associate Director of the New Mexico Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center (NM ADRC). Fellowship training in cognitive disorders and experience working in an ADRC is preferred. The individual will be part of the UNM Center for Memory & Aging research programs and will be recruiting and assessing participants in two program project level grants (MarkVCID  

and NM ADRC ). It is expected that the candidate will have ongoing, independent NIH research funding. Clinical duties will include direct patient care in a memory and aging clinic. Education duties include teaching medical students, residents, and fellows. The NM ADRC/CMA has ongoing studies in many areas with a focus on neuroinflammation, vascular contributions to cognitive impairment, health disparities, and plasma-based biomarkers.

Information regarding NM ADRC research can be found at  The University of New Mexico School of Medicine (UNM SOM) has strong research faculty with excellent resources for clinical and laboratory studies. The newly funded NM ADRC is committed to providing dementia services for New Mexico’s rural and medically under served populations. The applicant needs strong administrative skills and the ability to direct a large clinical research team.

The UNM SOM has a Clinical Translational Science Center  a designated Comprehensive Cancer Center  with a genome center, a Brain and Behavioral Health Institute  three NIH-funded Centers for Biomedical Research Excellence focused on brain recovery and repair, autophagy/inflammation/metabolism and a Center for Metals in Biology & Medicine. Neuroimaging is done in collaboration with the Mind Research Center Network (MRN https://(Use the "Apply for this Job" box below).)

Laboratory space and facilities include a Quanterix HD-1 and Meso Scale Discovery instruments that allow for the measurement of plasma-based biomarkers. The position includes research start-up funds, state-of-the-art research and shared core facilities. Salary is competitive and dependent on faculty rank. The CMA is a stand‑alone research center, reporting to the Dean of the School of Medicine. CMA has a track record of NIH funding and has recently been awarded an NIH Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center. It is poised to expand rapidly with support from the UNM Health Sciences Center Administration.
