Position Summary:
The Department of Family & Community Medicine at the University of New Mexico seeks a highly motivated team player with a commitment for implementation of research studies examining the potential use of psychedelic assisted therapies for PTSD. The on‑call position peer facilitator therapy includes being trained to become group facilitator for the GPAT study. GPAT is an innovative study of Group Psilocybin‑Assisted Therapy using an affinity group model including veteran/first responders, women survivors of sexual trauma, and other groups.
This Program Therapist may assist with the recruitment, prescreening, preparatory, dosing and integration sessions of study participants. They must be present at all medicine and the group preparatory and integrations sessions. Preferred Qualifications include training and/or experience in psychedelic assisted therapy research, group facilitation, and interest in working with individuals with PTSD. The model has been created to be in alignment with a community engagement process.

Conditions of Employment- Must pass a pre‑employment criminal background check.
- Successful candidate must submit to post‑offer, pre‑employment physical examination and medical history check.
- Bachelor's degree; no previous experience required.
- Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
- Group facilitation experience
- Familiarity with research in psychedelic assisted therapy, PTSD and trauma, and other mental health areas
- Experience as a psychedelic therapy facilitator
- Training and/or experience in psychedelic assisted therapy or other mental health research
- Experience or demonstrated interest in working with people experiencing PTSD, trauma and other mental health challenges.
- Interest in working with individuals with PTSD
- People who are successful in this position can work independently, are self‑motivated, very detail oriented, responsible, and have good critical thinking skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills including ability to comfortably work with people during preparation and integration from psychedelic therapy.
