Job Title

Supervisor – Sterile Processing (ABQ)

Summary

Collaboration is at the heart of this role! You'll partner with the patient’s care team and, when needed, connect with their family and community to support a truly holistic recovery journey. This person will supervise the daily activities of the Sterile Processing Department, implement and monitor ongoing quality improvement indicators, ensure ongoing educational activities and competencies of departmental staff, and oversee the daily budget for labor and supplies.

Responsibilities

This person will implement and monitor ongoing quality improvement indicators, assure ongoing educational activities and competencies of departmental staff, and oversee daily budget for labor and supplies.

  • Performs all sterile processing technology and lead duties
  • Hires, counsels, trains, manages competency, directs daily schedules, and evaluates Sterile Processing Techs.
  • Assists in identifying the needs and expectations of internal and external customers.
  • Maintains open communication with customers.
  • Oversees and monitors ongoing process validation and documentation in the Sterile Processing Department. Develops measurable goals for the department for quality indicators and shares those with other sites. Develops standards, policies and procedures for the department consistent with the regulatory environment and shares those with other sites.
  • Participates in the development of a departmental budget. Monitors departmental expenditures (supplies and FTEs), manages labor to budget, identifies variances, and assists in the preparation of a justification for variances.
  • Participates on teams and committees as required for the Sterile Processing Department.
Qualifications
  • Education:

    High School Diploma/GED is required.
  • Certification:
    Certified Sterile Processing Distribution Tech (CSPDT) is required.
  • Associate Degree in Business, Healthcare or related applicable field of study preferred.
  • Three years of additional experience can be substituted in lieu of a degree.
  • National certification in sterile processing required.
  • National certification as sterile processing supervisor preferred.
  • One to three years practical experience in sterile processing techniques required.
  • One to two years supervisory experience preferred.
  • Valid New Mexico driver’s license.
