Medical Technician

About the Position

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the Department of Defense Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. This will be filled as a permanent position.

• Perform phlebotomy procedures to obtain blood samples for HIV and other laboratory tests
• Conduct standardized medical orientation briefings to applicants
• Review unique medical forms for proper format, coding, and completion
• In process applicants to verify their identity using previously captured biometrics (i.e., digital fingerprints and photographs.)
• Assist applicants on completion of a variety of forms required for physical examination
• Track and maintain medical assessment data
• Maintain applicant's medical records during the examination process
• Manage medical consultations to include verifying doctor's orders
• Prepare Drug and Alcohol Test (DAT) control logs and obtain control log signatures
• Prepare packages and ship specimens to testing laboratory

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• This position requires occasional shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or during special situations (Before 0600 or after 1800 hours).
• This position is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) subject to a pre‑employment drug screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on‑duty accident.
• This position requires the employee to use personal protective equipment provided by the employer.
• Successful completion of applicable Military Health System (MHS) GENESIS Training is required in order to access the MHS GENESIS System within 30 days of on‑boarding and/or as required.
• This position requires you to be able to physically perform (demonstrate) and evaluate military physical aptitude (maneuvers) tests.
• This position has been designated as non‑sensitive and requires you to possess or complete a personnel security background investigation.
