Banquet Captain

The Banquet Captain is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing all banquet and catering events. This role works closely with clients, culinary teams, and staff to deliver seamless and memorable experiences.

Compensation Rate: $19.00 to $22.00 Hourly

Key Responsibilities

Event Sales and Planning

  • Meet with clients to determine event details, including menu selection, room setup, and special requests.
  • Prepare customized proposals and contracts, ensuring clarity and alignment with client expectations.
  • Maintain a detailed event schedule and ensure seamless coordination between departments.

Event Execution

  • Oversee the setup, service, and breakdown of all banquet and catering events.
  • Ensure client requirements and expectations are met or exceeded.
  • Serve as the on-site point of contact for clients, addressing concerns promptly and professionally.
  • Coordinate with the culinary team for timely and accurate food preparation and presentation.

Staff Management

  • Recruit, train, and schedule banquet and catering staff, ensuring adequate event coverage.
  • Supervise staff during events, ensuring adherence to service standards and protocols.
  • Provide ongoing feedback and support to foster a productive and positive work environment.

Financial Management

  • Monitor banquet and catering budgets, tracking revenue and expenses to meet financial goals.
  • Implement cost-control measures, including portion control, labor management, and waste reduction.
  • Generate detailed post-event reports to analyze profitability and identify areas for improvement.

Compliance and Safety

  • Ensure all events comply with local health and safety regulations.
  • Conduct regular inspections to maintain cleanliness, hygiene, and adherence to operational standards.
  • Implement policies and procedures for alcohol service, food handling, and guest safety.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Banquet Captain in the hospitality industry.
  • Strong sales and customer service skills, with the ability to build and maintain client relationships.
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the event space for extended periods.
  • Occasionally lift or move items weighing up to 25 lbs.
