Are you ready to make an impact in a dynamic, field-focused environment? LHH is seeking an experienced HR Generalist for a valued client in the construction/landscape industry. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on HR professional who enjoys both strategic and operational responsibilities.
About the RoleAs the HR Generalist, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping the employee experience from recruitment through retention. You’ll collaborate closely with HR leadership and contribute to a culture of engagement, compliance, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities- Talent Acquisition & Onboarding: Manage the full recruitment cycle for both field and office positions, from posting jobs and screening candidates to supporting interviews and preparing offers. Ensure new hires have a smooth onboarding experience and actively participate in employer branding initiatives.
- Employee Relations & Engagement: Serve as a primary HR contact for staff, addressing questions and concerns, and supporting programs that foster recognition and retention. Help leaders interpret company policies and drive a positive workplace culture.
- HR Administration & Compliance: Maintain accurate employee records and HRIS data, ensuring compliance with all relevant labor laws and company standards. Assist with workers’ compensation and safety documentation in partnership with the Safety team.
- Payroll & Benefits: Process weekly payroll in collaboration with field managers and accounting. Coordinate benefits administration, including enrollments, changes, and employee education, and support annual open enrollment communications.
- Training & Development: Help organize training sessions, certifications, and leadership workshops. Track completion and maintain documentation for all programs.
- HR Projects & Process Improvement: Contribute to the development and refinement of HR policies, procedures, and performance review cycles. Participate in technology and process improvement initiatives.
- 2–4 years of HR experience in a generalist or coordinator role
- Strong understanding of HR best practices and employment law
- Bilingual in Spanish and English
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
- Discretion in handling confidential information
- Proficiency with HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience in construction, landscaping, or similar industries is a plus
- Professional HR certifications (PHR, SHRM-CP) are advantageous
- Must be able to work independently and be self-motivated
- Physical requirements include occasional lifting (up to 35 lbs) and regular standing/walking
- Offer contingent on background check; valid driver’s license required
