Position Overview

Serenity Mesa Recovery Center is a recovery center located in Albuquerque, NM, under the ownership and direction of Healing Addiction in our Community (HAC), a New Mexico non‑profit corporation. Residents (age 14-21) enter this program after completing a residential treatment program for the purpose of ongoing therapy, support, education, and transitional services.

Working as a member of the Administrative Team, the HR Coordinator is typically the first person a potential employee will encounter. Under the direction of the Human Resource Director the HR Coordinator provides administrative support in all areas of HR function consistent with effective HR practice and legal compliance with federal, state and local law regulations and CARF Compliance. Serves as point of contact with the Human resources department for HR related inquiries.

Performs clerical and general office duties, provides administrative support to the HR Department.

Key responsibilities
  • Welcome new hires as needed and determine the nature of business and announces visitors to appropriate personnel, maintaining a professional and courteous demeanor.
  • Serves as back up to Admissions Coordinator for incoming telephone calls, determines purpose of calls and forwards call to appropriate staff member.
  • Answers general employee inquiries about HR related concerns regarding necessary training and documentation requests. Refer other issues to the Human Resources Director for resolution.
  • Supports in creation of personnel files, organizes and maintains personnel records.
  • Prepares and assembles HR documents (e.g. recruitment, background, benefit, and new hire packets)
  • Maintains phone system, copier, and other office equipment inventories. Orders, receive and maintain office supplies as needed.
  • Assist in the preparation of Personnel Action Forms as directed and processes paperwork for status changes which include hiring, promotion, and terminations.
  • Maintains confidential personnel files for current employees and former employees; arranges for archival of files in compliance with federal and state laws and CARF compliance.
  • Prepares documents and composes routine correspondence as required on specific policy and procedural issues and training requirements.
  • Completes employment verifications references and release information to other authorized agencies as directed for external reference checks.
  • Helps coordinate department events and activities.
  • Coordinates new hire on-boarding and orientation to ensure employees are following training requirements as noted in HR Training profiles and Hatch compliance.
Essential Requirements (Education, Licensing, Experience)
  • Highest education level:
    High school diploma or equivalent required: some college a plus
  • License/ certification: not required.
  • Experience required: 2 years in an office setting with 1 year experience in the Human Resource department preferred.
  • Technical skills required:
    Excellent computer skills, excellent interpersonal skills, ability to handle stressful situations and a flexible schedule.
  • Ability to pass drug screening and all background checks.

  • Demonstrates proficiency in the computer equipment and software required for the position (Office applications (especially Excel and Word),
