Entry-level Network Engineer - Hybrid

Description

The Network Administrator supports, monitors, tests, and troubleshoots hardware and software problems pertaining to the LAN. Builds and maintains the network closet environment and is responsible for Layer 1 infrastructure in the PHS Data Centers. The role recommends and schedules repair activities and relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals, performing a variety of complicated tasks.

• CCNA, Cisco routers, WAN, Cisco switches, troubleshooting, network engineering
• Associate's Degree

• ITIL V3 Foundation
• ITIL Capability certification in Operations or Support and Analysis
• ITIL Lifecycle certification in Service Operations (must obtain within 6 months of hire)
• Candidates must sign an agreement to obtain the required ITIL credentials

• Installs, maintains, supports, enhances, and repairs data communications network hardware—specifically for Layer 1 infrastructure.
• Provides high‑level support to cabling crews for implementing service requests related to data network cabling infrastructure.
• Maintains an accurate inventory of the installed base of data network cabling infrastructure, including electronic records and documentation.
• Maintains expertise in the use and maintenance of the data network cabling management system and ensures awareness of all changes to the data network.
• Provides UPS maintenance and support.
• Installs access‑level network hardware.
• Adheres to standards established by the data network team when installing new devices.
• Provides routine tier 2 production support, working closely with the help desk to troubleshoot and repair LAN/WAN network problems.
• Maintains an accurate inventory of data network equipment, including production devices and spares.
• Supports the Problem Resolution processes and meets expected timelines for ticket resolution and closure.
• Performs production support for day‑to‑day operations and problem resolution.
• Supports the Change Management process and adheres to its guidelines.
• Travels as needed to support PHS Data Network.
