IT Applications Manager
Department: Information Technology
Reports to: IT Director
The IT Applications Manager leads the management and support of a portfolio of applications and technology solutions. This role oversees the IT department’s software development, integration, and systems analyst efforts, ensuring core systems reflect evolving business needs and facilitating collaboration across IT and business units. The manager directs day‑to‑day activities of the IT Application Team, including developers, analysts, web administrators, technical leads, and systems analysts.
Responsibilities- Develop and manage staff through onboarding, communication, training, and performance management, building a motivated team.
- Ensure core business systems evolve in response to changing requirements.
- Drive stakeholder satisfaction by delivering quality applications through controlled change management.
- Communicate project status to management at all levels.
- Maintain oversight of a portfolio of IT projects and resource allocation.
- Act as liaison between IT and other business departments.
- Oversee vendor partners and requirements gathering.
- Advise on business process enhancements.
- Ensure disaster recovery and business continuity coverage for business systems.
- Support the IT Director in developing short‑ and long‑term IT projects.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education: BA/BS in Computer Science, Management, or related field required;
Master’s preferred.
Experience: 7+ years in a related field, preferably in workers’ compensation or other P&C insurance environment.
Skills & Abilities: Strong analytical, problem‑solving, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to manage multiple high‑priority tasks, guide a team, and work effectively with technical and non‑technical personnel. Attention to detail and excellent verbal and written communication.
Technical Knowledge: MS Office, Oracle 11g+, business and data modeling tools. Preferred knowledge of Guidewire (Gosu).
Working ConditionsThe role is performed in a general office environment with light physical demands, maintaining a drug‑free workplace and adhering to safety rules. Employees work with VDT screens.
