Eligibility CriteriaThe GS‑2210 level requires meeting both
Experience that demonstrated each of the following competencies; the experience must be IT‑related. Experience may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (e.g., certification), as appropriate.
- Attention to Detail – Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.
- Customer Service – Works with clients and customers (e.g., the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.
- Decision Making – Makes sound, well‑informed, and objective decisions; perceives the impact and implications of decisions; commits to action, even in uncertain situations, to accomplish organizational goals; causes change.
- Oral Communication – Expresses information (e.g., ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (e.g., technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.
- Problem Solving – Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.
To be eligible at the GS‑13 level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS‑12 level.
- Specialized experience includes performing duties such as providing information technology concepts, methods, standards and practices as they relate to evaluating and resolving hardware and software problems; planning and improving information systems to meet the needs of customer requirements; troubleshooting end‑user computer hardware and software issues; maintaining systems accounts with various enterprise software programs; maintenance of server and LAN/WAN activities; and maintenance and troubleshooting of network problems in various office locations.
