Position: Network Systems Engineer (MSP)

Requirements Must have:

  • We want at least five years of IT support experience.
  • We strongly prefer two or more years in a managed services provider or other multi-client environment.
  • We need proven, hands‑on networking expertise across routing, switching, firewalls, and troubleshooting in mixed‑vendor environments.
  • We need strong Windows Server and workstation administration skills, including Active Directory.
  • We require at least one current industry certification, or equivalent practical experience.
  • We need an associate degree or higher in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related discipline, or an equivalent mix of education and experience.
  • We require a valid New Mexico drivers license, reliable transportation, and the ability to be insured for travel to client sites.
  • We need the ability to pass a background check and meet HIPAA requirements.
  • We expect comfort with desktop support when needed.
  • We strongly prefer experience with Ubiquiti networking hardware.
  • We also value experience with Cisco, Meraki, Fortinet, or Sonic Wall.
  • We prefer familiarity with Kaseya tools such as Datto RMM, Autotask, and IT Glue.
  • We value experience supporting healthcare, education, government, or nonprofit clients.
  • We prefer experience administering Microsoft 365 and Entra .
  • We recognize certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Server+, Security+, Cisco CCNA, Ubiquiti UEWA/UBWA, Fortinet NSE, Microsoft 365 Administrator, Endpoint Administrator, Windows Server Hybrid Administrator, and Kaseya Certified Technician.
Responsibilities:
  • We design, configure, and implement client network environments from the ground up, including multi‑building campus deployments.
  • We troubleshoot and support LAN/WAN connectivity, routing, switching, firewalls, VLANs, and VPNs.
  • We own patching and firmware upgrade strategy, balancing security exposure against release stability, and we validate outsourced NOC work where needed.
  • We build and maintain backup approaches for servers and network configurations using tools such as Datto BCDR, M365/Spanning, and related platforms.
  • We design and deliver projects that improve our clients technical environments.
  • We scope hardware and software needs and collaborate with internal staff to deliver the right solution.
  • We respond to technical requests by leading solution development for our clients.
  • We handle complex escalations from Level 1 and Level 2.
  • We serve as the technical mentor and subject matter expert for junior technicians.
  • We help allocate staff augmentation resources.
  • We participate in a rotating after‑hours on‑call schedule.
  • We administer Windows Server and workstation environments, including Active Directory, Group Policy, and Power Shell‑based endpoint management.
  • We support hybrid identity setups with on‑premises AD and Microsoft 365 / Entra .
  • We implement endpoint protection, patching, and endpoint backup aligned to each clients environment using our security stack.
  • We partner with account executives to scope estimates and quotes.
  • We review client environments for improvement opportunities and present recommendations.
  • We attend client status meetings and quarterly business reviews, translating technical topics into clear, non‑technical language.
  • We stay informed on vendor and supplier offerings through trainings and webinars.
  • We maintain accurate system and client documentation in our PSA, documentation platform, and CRM.
  • We keep clients updated on incident status, planned changes, and scheduled outages.
  • We track time and materials accurately for client billing.

We are Millennium Communications, an Albuquerque‑based managed services provider and low‑voltage systems integrator serving healthcare organizations, nonprofits, education, and government clients across New Mexico. We are a small, senior‑heavy team with direct reporting to our President, short decision cycles, and high visibility into how the business operates. This is an on‑site role in our Albuquerque office, with regular travel to client sites in the metro area and occasional trips to more remote locations.
