About Us

Black Ve, Inc. is a mission-first, dynamic, and innovative national security-focused company focused on emerging space and advanced technologies dedicated to pushing the boundaries of engineering excellence in support of our government customers.

Job Description

Black Ve is looking for an on-site Dev Ops Engineer with joint Sys Admin responsibilities, who keeps our software and engineering environments running securely, reliably, and in compliance with the rules that come with government work. You’ll own the day-to-day health of our Linux and Windows systems, our CI/CD pipelines, administer the infrastructure our engineers depend on, and be a hands‑on steward of Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) across the environments we operate.

You’ll work closely with our existing IT and security teams to implement and maintain our IT infrastructure, making sure that infrastructure is available to our engineering and software teams when it’s needed and locked down the way our government customers require.

Key Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions
  • Administering, patching, and maintaining Linux servers and workstations across development, integration, and production environments
  • Administering and troubleshooting Windows enterprise accounts
  • Maintaining and troubleshooting CI/CD pipelines, keeping them running efficiently and with the necessary test and security configurations
  • Managing user accounts, access controls, and least privilege permissions in line with program and compliance requirements
  • Handling Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) in accordance with NIST SP 800-171 / CMMC controls — including access control, media protection, audit logging, and configuration management
  • Administering cloud infrastructure — provisioning, patching, backup, and access management — including AWS Gov Cloud environments where applicable
  • Automating routine administration and configuration tasks through scripting (Bash, Python) and configuration management tooling
  • Administering and maintaining approved open source and licensed software — including installation, updates, patching, and tracking license compliance and usage against approved software lists
  • Monitoring system health, performance, and security events, and responding to incidents in coordination with the security team
  • Maintaining accurate system documentation, network diagrams, and records needed to support audits and security assessments
  • Supporting the broader engineering and software teams by troubleshooting infrastructure issues and unblocking day‑to‑day operations
Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years of hands‑on Linux system administration in a production environment
  • Demonstrated experience maintaining CI/CD pipelines
  • Experience working with virtualization and Docker containerization
  • Strong understanding of access control, patch management, system hardening, backup/recovery, and configuration management (Git)
  • Proficiency with scripting and automation (Bash, Python) and familiarity with infrastructure‑as‑code or configuration management tooling
  • Working knowledge of networking fundamentals (DNS, firewalls, VPNs, routing) and identity/access management
  • U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain a DoD security clearance
Preferred Qualifications
  • Hands‑on experience with AWS Gov Cloud or other government‑authorized cloud environments
  • Demonstrated experience handling Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) or working under government compliance frameworks such as NIST SP 800-171, CMMC, or FedRAMP
  • Experience preparing for or supporting CMMC assessments
  • Familiarity with security tooling for continuous monitoring, vulnerability scanning, and SIEM/log aggregation
  • Experience in a small‑team or startup environment where you wore multiple hats
