Director, IT Infrastructure Operations - Woodward, (1828)

Scheduled Shift: Monday-Friday 8-5 with weekends, holidays, and after hours as needed to support IT Operations.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Director, IT Infrastructure Operations provides strategic leadership for infrastructure, end-user technology, and IT support services. The position leads System Engineering, Network Engineering, IT System Administration, Desktop Support, and IT Service Desk Support Technician functions through two managers. This role translates enterprise priorities into functional strategy, operating plans, governance, investment recommendations, service expectations, and risk management practices for Tri Core's infrastructure environment.

The Director is accountable for infrastructure strategy, enterprise Configuration Management Database (CMDB) governance, architecture and lifecycle management, resilience and disaster recovery, major incident governance, service performance, financial stewardship, vendor performance, and organizational capability. The Director leads through managers, establishes functional outcomes and decision rights, evaluates performance and risk, and holds leaders accountable for execution. The role presents material risks, tradeoffs, and investment recommendations to executive leadership and directs remediation within the assigned portfolio.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • 1. Develop and execute infrastructure and operations strategies aligned with enterprise priorities, business needs, risk direction, and available resources.
  • 2. Lead through direct-report managers with accountability for System Engineering, Network Engineering, IT System Administration, Desktop Support, and IT Service Desk Support Technician functions.
  • 3. Establish governance, service expectations, performance measures, and accountability for infrastructure operations and related technology services.
  • 4. Direct infrastructure architecture, modernization, capacity, lifecycle, and technical debt planning across compute, storage, virtualization, network, backup, endpoint, cloud, and related platforms.
  • 5. Govern architecture and investment decisions involving availability, resilience, scalability, supportability, security, recoverability, unsupported technology, and residual risk.
  • 6. Own enterprise CMDB strategy and governance, including standards for configuration data, service mapping, ownership, lifecycle status, business criticality, recovery priority, and data quality.
  • 7. Govern integration of CMDB and asset management with acquisition, change, incident, problem, disaster recovery, audit, and decommissioning processes.
  • 8. Develop infrastructure resilience, backup, recovery, replication, immutability, and disaster recovery strategies aligned with business continuity priorities and enterprise risk direction
  • 9. Sponsor recovery validation and readiness reviews, hold managers accountable for remediation, and elevate material capability, risk, or funding gaps.
  • 10. Lead infrastructure decision-making during major incidents and govern post-incident reviews, corrective actions, and escalation of unresolved risk.
  • 11. Lead operating and capital planning, investment prioritization, financial performance, and vendor strategy for the assigned portfolio.
  • 12. Build business and executive partnerships, communicate infrastructure performance and risks, support compliance and continuous improvement, and align infrastructure priorities with organizational objectives.
MINIMUM EDUCATION:
  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, engineering, business, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and progressively responsible experience.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:
  • Eight (8) years of progressively responsible information technology experience, including leadership of infrastructure, operations, engineering, end-user support, or related functions.
