The Logistics Support Engineer supports procurement, logistics, property accountability, lifecycle sustainment, and disposal activities for prototype and operational satellite ground systems, satellite operations centers, and supporting infrastructure. This role is responsible for helping plan and implement effective product support strategies across the system lifecycle, from concept through disposal; managing support agreements, spares, Government property, and inventory records; coordinating packaging, handling, storage, transportation, and shipment activities;

and supporting sustainment readiness to meet mission requirements. The ideal candidate has experience with DoD logistics processes, inventory and property control, supply support, and mission-critical hardware sustainment in regulated or classified environments.

Key Responsibilities:

Procurement, Supply, and Lifecycle Support:

  • Support development and maintenance of lifecycle sustainment plans, including tools, processes, and procedures that maintain configuration management and provide hardware recapitalization recommendations.
  • Procure, manage, and control support agreements, warranties, and license agreements for hardware and software as assigned.
  • Maintain minimum effective levels of bench stock and spares to support mission recovery requirements.
  • Establish or support programs for diminishing manufacturing sources and material shortages (DMSMS), parts obsolescence, and vanishing vendors.
  • Track software and licensing renewals and identify upcoming expirations to the Government.

Inventory, Property, and Warehouse Management:

  • Manage storage, receiving, inspection, staging, packaging, distribution, shipment, disposition, and disposal of equipment, supplies, and consumables, with the ability to support logistics operations on a 24/7 basis as required.
  • Support procurement and conversion of Contractor Acquired Property (CAP) to Government Furnished Property (GFP) in accordance with contract property clauses and purchasing requirements.
  • Maintain Government Furnished Property (GFP) and Government-provided warehouses and provide wholesale level supply support.
  • Perform inventory management activities including requisition processing, storage, shipment, delivery, pick-up, receiving, shipping, in-transit visibility/tracking/reporting, property accountability, and handling of classified material.
  • Establish and maintain a contractor Property Management System or internal controls that provide asset visibility and inventory status reporting.
  • Ensure property accountability records are maintained in required systems and processes for Government property in contractor possession.

Packaging, Transportation, and Maintenance Coordination:

  • Perform packaging, handling, shipping, and transportation of CAP and GFP in support of mission requirements or as directed by the Government.
  • Track and obtain required maintenance, repairs, inspections, spares, and replacements for GFP, including coordination of repair or replacement with manufacturers when necessary.
  • Provide supply chain management support for unique spare parts and support equipment.
  • Coordinate with sustainment and technical teams to support preventative maintenance and replacement of failed or broken hardware components in accordance with approved change processes and IA requirements.

Property Control, Disposal, and Compliance:

  • Determine, procure, repair, service, store, receive, and dispose of unique spare parts and support equipment, as assigned.
  • Handle and store classified property in compliance with DD Form 254 and applicable disposal and demilitarization requirements.
  • Perform property control activities to maintain 98% or better inventory accuracy for unclassified components and 100% accountability for classified components.
  • Conduct monthly 5% or greater spot-checks and physical inventories in accordance with DoD and Air Force policy directives.
  • Maintain current physical inventory records and required reports.
