Material Coordinator

The Material Coordinator expedites the flow of materials, parts and assemblies between sections or departments. Essential functions include processing incoming customer requests, interfacing with both internal and external customer inquiries and complaints, providing mission support for the Kirtland AFB tenant units, updating computer databases related to equipment tracking and reporting, interfacing with base equipment custodians, training other supply personnel and equipment custodians, tracking and reporting unfavorable supply process trends, interacting with higher headquarters on equipment questions, assuming responsibility for the entire Equipment Management program on Kirtland AFB, performing equipment account inventories base wide daily, maintaining Kirtland AFB bench stock accounts, ensuring inventory balances are met, providing customer support using ES-S, Assent Management, IMDS and other AF websites, providing technical assistance to supply customers, processing requisitioning action, interfacing with source of supply for stock availability status, providing in-depth analysis regarding materials management when requested or directed, researching all references related to MICAP processes, and performing other related duties to meet the ongoing needs of the organization.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities include intermediate computer skills specifically using Microsoft Office Suite, ability to enter data accurately into databases, ability to understand and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals, ability to generate routine reports and correspondence, excellent interpersonal skills to work effectively and cooperatively with all levels of management and staff, trustworthiness, ability to use general office equipment such as fax, phone, copier, etc.,

ability to follow a process, strong professional customer service skills, analytical skills with the ability to evaluate data and consider decision impact across multiple areas with limited information in high stress situations and environments, problem solving skills; ability to draw conclusions and justify decisions, ability to communicate issues to management, ability to manage conflicting priorities, ability to learn and understand corporate policies and procedures and how they relate to goals, ability to perform basic mathematical computations, detect unobvious facts and issues, and exercise resourcefulness in resolving problems, and ability to multi-task.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent, minimum of 2 years' experience as a materials coordinator, shipping / receiving, inventory control or other related field, previous experience using a forklift or other material handling equipment is preferred, ability to lift 75 pounds, ability to pass a drug and background screening, and must be able to obtain and maintain a Government Security Clearance.
