The Director of Volunteer Services provides strategic leadership, vision, and oversight for Animal Humane New Mexico’s volunteer program, ensuring a high-quality, mission-aligned experience for volunteers across all locations and departments. This role is responsible for the overall direction, growth, and effectiveness of the Volunteer Department and directly manages the Volunteer Manager.
Additional Areas of Responsibility:
The Director sets strategy, establishes standards, ensures compliance and consistency, and partners cross-functionally to ensure volunteers are meaningfully integrated into organizational operations. As a senior leader, this position champions volunteer engagement, stewardship, and impact while fostering a culture of appreciation, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Other Information/Requirements:
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, human resources, communications, education, or a related field required;
Master’s degree preferred.
5+ years of progressive experience in volunteer management, program leadership, or people-centered program administration.
3+ years of supervisory or senior leadership experience.
