Program Manager – SSC AAMX (GS-1101-13)

Location:

Kirtland AFB, NM, United States Space Force (USSF).

Position Overview

We are searching for a Program Manager to support SSC/AAMX. The role directly supports the Nation's most critical defense missions, including high-stakes launch acquisition and operations across a constellation of national priorities.

Responsibilities
  • Lead integrated action teams to shape launch strategies and ensure mission readiness.
  • Conduct deep acquisition & technical evaluations and mission assurance reviews of launch systems.
  • Deliver high-impact briefings to senior military and civilian leadership.
  • Pilot launch teams through the full mission lifecycle – from concept to countdown.
  • Serve as the focal point for acquisition of logistics, maintenance, supply, engineering, mission assurance and launch services.
  • Establish management controls such as milestones, expenditure rates, management indicators, and reviews to reflect program status.
  • Organize teamwork efforts and lead a team of specialists to resolve technical, schedule, cost, and supportability issues.
  • Generate specific plans, goals, and objectives consistent with policies and requirements.
  • Review progress of contractors and keep leadership informed of project status.
Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, business administration, management, or a related program management discipline.
  • Master's degree preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum 3-5 years in program management or related fields, ideally within the DoD or a similar environment.
  • Proven experience leading multi-disciplinary teams and managing complex programs with significant uncertainties and risks.
  • History of developing and implementing acquisition policies, procedures, strategic plans, and source selection.
  • Experience supporting integrated product teams; rocket motor launch operations/missions; implementing requirements and monitoring performance; developing cost estimates; planning and conflict resolution among many organizations; communicating project status.

Training:

  • Completed relevant acquisition management training including Defense Acquisition University (DAU) courses.
  • Preferred ability to meet Acquisition Professional Development Program Management Level 2 requirements.
  • Beneficial training in personnel management and leadership development.

Skills:

  • Exceptional leadership and team-supervision skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in budget management and contract negotiation.
Requirements
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret/SCI security clearance.
  • Safeguards classified or sensitive budget-related information.
  • May be required to work overtime on an unscheduled or emergency basis.
  • Eligible for situational telework only, including Emergency and OPM prescribed “Unscheduled Telework”.
  • Position will close after 5 business days or 75 applications, whichever comes first.
  • Employee may be required to perform travel by military or commercial passenger aircraft.
  • PCS/incentive funding is not authorized.
  • Subject to drug testing (TDP) and random testing for drug use.
  • Position is a cybersecurity role; employee must obtain appropriate DoD-approved cybersecurity baseline certificate(s).
  • Position is coded Level II, IT; employee is expected to meet Continuous Learning requirements.
  • Employee must file OGE-450 "Confidential Financial Disclosure Report" within 30 days of assuming the role and annually thereafter, and attend annual ethics and procurement integrity training.
  • Subject to Temporary Duty Assignment (TDY): 15 days a year.
  • Acquisition position covered by Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP).
  • Meet or be capable of meeting Defense Acquisition Work Improvement Act (DAWIA) requirements.
  • Meet Continuing Acquisition Education requirements.
