The National Director of Facilities is responsible for the leadership and oversight of the planning, maintenance, and operations of Clear Sky’s buildings, infrastructures, and grounds. The role ensures compliance with all local, state, and federal codes, standards, and regulations relating to Hospital Safety, Security, Hazardous Materials, Life Safety, Emergency Preparedness, Clinical Equipment, and Utilities. This position must integrate company values into daily practice.
Essential Functions Minimum
Job Requirements Oversees the Environment of Care (EoC) program across the organization, including emergency, life safety, safety, security, Workplace Violence, hazardous waste, and equipment and utilities.
Develops long-range facility modernization programs, capital budgets, and resource allocation strategies across the organization.
Ensures all hospitals and clinics meet local, state, and national healthcare Environment of Care accreditation and fire/life/safety standards, including, but not limited to, Joint Commission, CMS, OSHA, EPA, NFPA, etc.
Onboards and trains new Hospital Facilities leadership. Provides mentoring and consultative direction to new and established Facilities leadership across the organization.
Conducts regular on-site assessments of hospitals to evaluate success of EoC programs, alignment with organizational strategies, proper equipment maintenance, and regulatory requirements.
Conducts regular audits of hospital EoC recordkeeping to ensure compliance with EoC expectations.
Participates in new hospital build, leadership and staff orientation and onboarding processes, and survey readiness preparation for openings.
Coordinates with interdisciplinary teams at the corporate and national levels to ensure organizational strategies are aligned.
Frequent travel between locations is required for this role.
Provides an environment conducive to safety for patients, visitors, and staff.
Performs other duties as assigned to support overall effectiveness of the organization.
Minimum Education & Experience
10 years’ experience in facilities/EOC in a healthcare environment required. Hospital or IRF preferred.
3 years’ experience in facilities leadership position required.
3 years’ experience managing multiple hospital locations preferred.
Bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, Construction Management, or Healthcare Administration preferred.
Required Licenses, Certifications, and/or Documentation Certified Healthcare Environmental Services Professional (CHESP) certification or ASHE Health Care Physical Environmental Worker certification strongly preferred.
Certification or licensing in one of the following preferred:
Plumbing, HVAC, Air Conditioning, Electrician, or related field.
Must maintain acceptable driving record, current driver’s license, and insurability.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong knowledge of City, State and Federal standards, codes and regulations, occupational hazards, and safety precautions, including, but not limited to: CMS Conditions of Participation, Joint Commission standards, NPFA codes, OSHA requirements, and EPA.Ability to interpret codes and apply them in real-world healthcare settings
In-depth understanding of healthcare facilities systems such as HVAC, fire suppression systems, emergency power systems, etc.
Demonstrated ability to lead regulatory survey readiness efforts and respond effectively to audits and inspections.
Demonstrated ability to manage emergency preparedness programs and respond effectively to crises.
Ability to align Facilities operations with organizational goals.
Ability to partner with clinical, infection control, quality, safety, and operations leaders.
Strong organizational and project management skills.
Ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will understand.
Ability to travel frequently between locations
Physical Requirements over the Course of a ShiftA significant amount of walking, bending, reaching, pushing, and pulling for both momentary and prolonged periods.
Both gross and precise motor functions.
Lifting/exerting up to 50 lbs.
Close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
Exposure to heat, cold, loud noise, restricted space, pinch points, and moving parts.
