Wilson & Company, Inc., Engineers & Architects, is seeking a full‑time Planning Practice Lead for the Southwest Region to join our team in Albuquerque, New Mexico or ElPaso, Texas. The role is designed for an experienced team or project leader who can build and mentor a growing team, grow our practice, and deliver high‑quality planning and mobility services across the United States.
Responsibilities- Lead, supervise, mentor, and develop a high‑performance practice staff.
- Serve as Senior Project Manager for a portfolio of planning projects and clients.
- Manage planning projects through all phases – from marketing and fee development to final deliverables approval.
- Develop and maintain a leadership pipeline and allocate staff resources to meet project milestones.
- Prepare proposals, scopes of services, and fee proposals for diverse project types.
- Communicate directly with federal, state, local, tribal and private industry clients.
- Oversee and coordinate work efforts of the team to ensure accuracy, quality, and design that satisfies client expectations.
- Represent Wilson & Company at industry meetings and professional organization events.
- Attract, retain, and develop quality team members.
- Collaborate with regional and national managers on business planning, client development, and company goals.
- Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, Urban and Regional Planning, or related field (advanced degrees preferred).
- 10+ years of experience leading a team of professionals, including supervising and mentoring staff.
- 10+ years of experience in transportation, land use, and/or multimodal infrastructure planning.
- 10+ years of experience managing planning projects for federal, state, local, and/or tribal clients.
- Strong writing and oral communication skills; proven ability to produce principal planning documents for project approvals.
- Project and task management skills with a track record of completing work on schedule and within budget.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and related software systems.
- AICP or PE certification is preferred.
- Self‑starter with multitasking ability and strong analytical, organizational, and time‑management skills.
Annual Salary Range: $125,000 – 175,000+ (depending on experience). The company offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes health, life, and disability insurance, paid time off, and retirement savings plans.
