HOW WILL YOU MAKE AN IMPACT IN THIS ROLE?You will oversee daily shelter operations
, ensuring safety, staffing, documentation, and client flow align with program goals and trauma-informed practices. You will supervise CPSW Leads and provide guidance to CPSWs and other operational staff while supporting coaching, training, scheduling, and performance management.
You will oversee HMIS data, incident reports, census information, compliance documentation, and operational reporting
. You will also monitor client flow and bed utilization, identify operational gaps, and help improve policies, workflows, and procedures.
You are an organized, compassionate, and confident leader who can manage competing priorities, support staff, and make sound decisions in a fast-paced shelter environment. You understand trauma-informed care, communicate effectively, and know how to handle challenging situations with professionalism and good judgment.
Requirements- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Public Administration, Business Administration, or related field preferred; relevant experience may be considered in lieu of degree
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in shelter operations, supportive housing, or social services
- At least 1-2 years of supervisory or lead experience required
- Experience working in a responsive shelter environment strongly preferred
- Strong understanding of trauma-informed care and homelessness response systems
- Demonstrated ability to supervise staff, manage operations, and handle complex situations
- Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and client management systems (HMIS preferred)
- Valid driver’s license in good standing and ability to travel locally as needed
- Experience and commitment to working with multiethnic, multicultural, low-income populations.
- Excellent attention to detail, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, especially Microsoft teams).
- Proven supervisory and effective leadership skills.
- Excellent documentation and clinical skills.
- Proven ability to follow-up and meet deadlines.
- Excellent initiative, flexibility, and stress-management in handling the demands of leadership.
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and delegate to balance the many responsibilities, and address the various issues, that a leader faces during the workday.
