DescriptionPosition Summary
Responsible for overall planning, operation and administration of the Facilities Department of the Resort & Casino including building maintenance, repair, remodel, renovation, construction, ground maintenance, and contract services. Entails providing leadership for the department, developing guidelines for renovation, modifications of existing facilities and representing the Casino during capital construction projects. Serves as consultant to all facilities of the Casino. Performs related duties as required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Participates in an oversight committee on construction, remodel and renovation activities. Ensures compliance with applicable codes, regulations and ordinances in accordance with Building Safety policies. Participates in the preparation of bid specification and related construction documents; evaluates bids and proposals in accordance with purchasing and building safety policies. Prepares and presents information to Tribal Council related to assigned area. Participates in the evaluation and selection of contracted services.
Prepares and administers the annual budget for Facilities Department. Manages the professional development of departmental staff. Establishes and promotes the maintenance of a safe, accident free and healthy work environment. Responsible for assessing all Sandia Resort and Casino facilities for safety and health requirements as well as calculating potential negative risk factors found. Advises department managers regarding safety protocols and procedures to ensure regulatory compliance as mandated by local, state, and federal agencies, including the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Indian Health Services (IHS), and New Mexico Environment Department (NMED).
Continuously monitors Sandia Resort and Casino facilities for conditions that expose guests or employees to a safety or health hazard. Exercises emergency authority to stop and prevent unsafe acts. Takes appropriate action to mitigate or eliminate unsafe conditions, operations or hazards. Participates in the development, implementation and maintenance of Sandia Resort and Casino safety programs as part of the Safety Committee.
Conducts safety inspections of facilities, equipment, materials, and operations. Maintains Facility Departments required safety equipment and assures it is used or worn by staff. Coordinates training programs for Facilities which will increase proficiency in safe practices and promote safety consciousness. Develops safety training manuals and determines selected certification programs. Participates in the investigation of accidents and injuries in Facilities and cooperates in the preparation of material and evidence for use in hearings, lawsuits, and insurance investigations.
Maintains Safety files and Records for department. Manages the Computerized Asset Management System for Facilities and assures all work activity is documented in the computerized System. Oversees the department Safety Plan and ensures staff are trained on and follow Safety Plan requirements. Punctual and regular attendance is an essential responsibility for all team members and are expected to report to work based upon the assigned schedule each day in accordance with the Attendance Policy for Pueblo of Sandia.
Additional Responsibilities
Provides immediate supervision to non-exempt and potentially exempt Team Members and serves in a role where reporting Team Members gain support, feedback, and guidance in their performance of all duties. Sets business parameters and delegates day-to-day tasks to achieve operational objectives. Ensures policy, procedures and practices are followed. Creates an environment of teamwork, through communicating common goals, and show appreciation for Team Members contributions and on-going support.
