What Your Job Will Be Like

Sandia National Laboratories is seeking a highly motivated and experienced professional to join our Smart Manufacturing and Operational Technology team. This position will focus on supporting the implementation of advanced manufacturing technologies and tools for the Sandia Smart Factory initiative. The ideal candidate will have broad knowledge of smart manufacturing and operational technology, including the software used in this field, with the ability to understand and leverage new tools based on domain expertise.

The selected candidate will work collaboratively with teams across Sandia, providing expertise in process data collection and analysis, equipment health monitoring, and operational technology solutions. This role requires someone who can hit the ground running, assess the portfolio of tools available, and develop actionable strategies to enhance manufacturing processes.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

  • Collaborate with the Sandia Smart Factory team to implement and optimize smart manufacturing tools and technologies
  • Provide requirements and actionable insights based on domain knowledge to drive the vision for CAMINO and Smart Factory efforts
  • Analyze and integrate process data collection, equipment health monitoring, and operational technology solutions
  • Work closely with project management and software teams to ensure successful deployment and utilization of tools
  • Support training and knowledge transfer to Sandia teams, ensuring long‑term sustainability of implemented solutions
  • Assess Sandia current state processes and future state options to provide a prioritized roadmap for Smart Manufacturing at Sandia

Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite.

Salary Range

$102,400 - $199,700

* Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.

Qualifications We Require
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field plus 5 years of experience, or equivalent (AS + 9 years or no degree + 13 years)
  • Experience with smart manufacturing and operational technology
  • Experience with process data collection, analysis, and equipment health monitoring
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q clearance
Qualifications We Desire
  • Experience with PTC tools, including Windchill, Kepware, and Thingworx
  • Familiarity with GE or Siemens tools and technologies
  • Knowledge of Connected Work Cell concepts and implementation
  • Previous experience in manufacturing environments or operational technology solutions
  • Ability to understand and adapt to new tools and technologies based on domain expertise
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
