Material Handler Job Description
The Material Handler supports electronics manufacturing operations by performing inventory control activities, kitting materials for production orders, and accurately recording all inventory movements in the electronic inventory control system. This role contributes directly to operational efficiency, product quality, and customer satisfaction by ensuring materials are correctly handled, protected, and available at the right place and time. The position requires strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a high‑volume, fast‑paced team environment.
Responsibilities- Maintain inventory organization and perform cycle counts by location, quantity, and status to ensure accurate stock records.
- Transact materials in the ERP system to match the physical movement of parts throughout the facility.
- Accurately pick, count, label, and transact parts for production operations according to pick lists and ad hoc material requests.
- Expedite materials and related transactions to support manufacturing operations and minimize production delays.
- Maintain and deliver in‑process inventory to point‑of‑use workstations to support continuous production flow.
- Verify inventory computations by comparing system records to physical counts of stock and investigate discrepancies or adjust errors as needed.
- Utilize reel counters and scales to accurately count and verify inventory quantities.
- Load and unload trucks, boxes, containers, and carts safely and efficiently.
- Use a variety of packaging and handling methods to protect materials from damage, including electrostatic discharge prevention and proper handling of moisture‑sensitive parts.
- Store and organize parts in accordance with material handling guidance such as FIFO (First In, First Out), locator organization, and weight considerations.
- Enter cycle count results into the ERP system to keep inventory records current and accurate.
- Process inventory adjustments in the ERP system while following the established approval hierarchy.
- Prepare parts according to part specifications to ensure they meet packaging and handling requirements.
- Select the correct pocket and tape for tape‑and‑reel packaging based on part and packaging specifications.
- Follow detailed specifications for the orientation of parts in trays and on tape‑and‑reel to support automated assembly processes.
- Maintain safety standards and follow 5S workplace organization practices to keep the work area clean, orderly, and safe.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned to support overall warehouse and production operations.
- Experience in material handling, including loading, unloading, picking, and packaging materials.
- Hands‑on experience with inventory management and cycle counts in a production or warehouse environment.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Basic computer navigation skills, including the use of email applications and electronic inventory control systems.
- Proficient English business communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate counting, labeling, and transaction of parts.
- Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and maintain orderly inventory storage.
- Ability to work closely with others and demonstrate effective communication and teamwork.
- Flexibility and adaptability, with the ability and willingness to modify activities and direction in a dynamic business environment.
- Ability to work efficiently in a high‑volume, fast‑paced, team‑based environment.
- Capability to follow safety procedures and use designated personal protective equipment and electrostatic discharge protection when required.
Skills & Qualifications
