Salary$51.72 - $82.76 hourly ($107,584 - $172,135 annually).
This position is a Pay Band C13.
Why does the job exist?Crisis Prevention Intervention and Trauma Informed Care are the cornerstone of treatment at Sequoyah Adolescent Treatment Center. De‑escalation techniques and coping mechanisms are offered to residents and life skills are taught to assist with success upon discharge. This job exists to assure the highest level of care for residents. This position will provide diagnosis/assessment and medical care treatment to a thirty‑six (36) bed residential treatment center.
Howdoes it get done?
This position will provide comprehensive healthcare to Sequoyah Adolescent Treatment Center residents. The incumbent will assist with diagnosing and referrals where appropriate; prescribe therapeutic agents within the scope of practice, licensure, and level of individual competence and in accordance with designated formulary aligned with the NM Board of Nursing.
Who are the customers?Our facility is a secure facility which serves the needs of adolescent males ages 13‑17 with a history of violence and aggression.
Ideal CandidateThe ideal candidate must possess and maintain current licensure as a Certified Nurse Practitioner, Certified Nurse Midwife, or Clinical Nurse Specialist or be eligible for licensure in accordance with section 63‑3‑23.2 of the New Mexico Nursing Practice Act, 61‑3‑1 NMSA 1978 with experience in:
- Taking medical histories and performing patient examinations.
- Ordering and interpreting laboratory tests and x-rays.
- Making diagnoses and prescribing appropriate medications and other therapies.
- Educating patients about their health and instructing them in self‑care techniques.
- Referring patients to physicians and other health care providers.
- Working with violent/aggressive adolescents in a residential treatment center.
Licensed by the New Mexico Board of Nursing as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN), Certified Nurse Practitioner (CNP), Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS), or as a Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) by the New Mexico Department of Health.
Employment RequirementsMust possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Pre‑employment background investigation is required and is conditional pending results. Must include education and licenses required for position.
Working ConditionsWork is performed in an adolescent treatment center, with exposure to mentally and/or behaviorally challenged residents, who may exhibit unpredictable behaviors. This position may work in an office setting using related office equipment, with exposure to Visual Video Display Terminal and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Pushing, pulling, lifting and/or carrying.
Bargaining Unit PositionThis position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement and all terms/conditions of that agreement apply and must be adhered to.
