Overview
Oncology Nurse (ICU) – Procedural Suites Oncology RN. Requisition .
UNMCC is recruiting for an Oncology RN to provide direct, specialty surgical patient care and related technical and operational support to surgical patients, nursing staff, and Surgical providers. This position coordinates and assists the surgical physicians with special tests, procedures, and complex treatments for surgical patients, ensuring adherence to hospital or department and University policies, nursing procedures, standards, and practices.
About UNM Comprehensive Cancer CenterThe University of New Mexico Comprehensive Cancer Center is the Official Cancer Center of New Mexico and the only National Cancer Institute-designated Cancer Center in a 500-mile radius. The center includes a wide range of oncology specialists and cancer care professionals who provide treatment to patients across the state and participate in cancer-related research and education.
Conditions of Employment- CPR Certified.
- Must maintain certification and/or licensure status.
- Required to complete department-specific professional development activities.
- May be required to submit immunization records for required vaccines and TB testing.
- UNM will provide Hepatitis vaccination; candidate may decline vaccination or provide vaccination records from a previous employer.
- Successful candidate must submit to post-offer, pre-employment physical examination and medical history check.
- Employees in patient care or clinical areas are required to comply with the University's influenza vaccination requirement.
- Associate's degree in Nursing; at least 2 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
- State of New Mexico Licensed Registered Nurse or licensure pending as documented by temporary licensure OR current RN licensure from a state participating in the multistate privilege to practice compact with New Mexico.
- Completed degrees above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year-for-year basis.
- Experience in:
- Certified in Conscious Sedation
- ACLS certification
- Day surgery/OR experience
- Bilingual in English/Spanish
- Strong organizational skills
- Experience with strict infection control procedures
- Strong communication skills
- Strong peripheral IV skills
- Central line care including access and de-access
- Sterile processing experience
- Cerner and Surginet experience
- Finalists should be prepared to provide official educational transcripts if selected for hire.
