Job Overview

Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN).

• Must have a current RN or LPN license.
• Ability to understand, remember, and carry out verbal or written instructions in English.
• Ability to complete assignments in a timely manner.
• Ability to be flexible and positive in the face of intermittent interruptions.

• Assure resident safety.
• Provide the best possible nursing care by planning, organizing, and directing nursing functions of patients in the unit.
• Assign nursing duties appropriate to employee skill levels.
• Maintain acceptable standards of patient care.
• Identify problems and guide personnel toward solutions.
• Create a working climate that provides growth and job satisfaction for personnel.
• Accurately and promptly implement physicians’ orders.
• Support and enforce infection‑control policies and procedures.
• Maintain a professional approach with confidentiality.
• Cooperate and maintain good rapport with nursing staff, medical staff, other departments, and visitors.
• Obtain and document comprehensive nursing history from the patient and/or significant others, covering present condition and prior problems.
• Perform basic assessment of the patient, demonstrating adequate knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and pathology.
• Record vital signs, note changes, and pursue further investigation as needed.
• Assess for and notify physicians or appropriate parties of changes in condition.
• Use assessment information to develop a care plan before shift end, communicating enough information for incoming personnel.
• Use care plans as a basis for providing safe and therapeutic care.
• Consistently follow established standards, policies, and procedures in providing nursing care.
• Accept accountability for the clinical care of assigned patients, including supervision of non‑professional personnel.
• Communicate with the patient, family members, and health‑care team to achieve goals of the care plan.
• Promote positive public relations with patients, residents, family members, and guests.
• Use tactful, appropriate communication in sensitive and emotional situations.
• Maintain appropriate workplace behavior and adhere to dress code at all times.
