Job Overview

- Ability to understand, remember, and carry out verbal or written instructions in English.
- Ability to complete assignments in a timely manner.

- Assure resident safety.
- Provide the best possible nursing care by planning, organizing, and directing nursing functions of patients in the unit.
- Assign nursing duties appropriate to employee skill levels.
- Maintain acceptable standards of patient care.
- Identify problems and guide personnel toward solutions.
- Create a working climate that provides growth and job satisfaction for personnel.
- Accurately and promptly implement physicians’ orders.
- Support and enforce infection‑control policies and procedures.
- Maintain a professional approach with confidentiality.
- Cooperate and maintain good rapport with nursing staff, medical staff, other departments, and visitors.
- Obtain and document comprehensive nursing history from the patient and/or significant others, covering present condition and prior problems.
- Perform basic assessment of the patient, demonstrating adequate knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and pathology.
- Record vital signs, note changes, and pursue further investigation as needed.
- Assess for and notify physicians or appropriate parties of changes in condition.
- Use assessment information to develop a care plan before shift end, communicating enough information for incoming personnel.
- Use care plans as a basis for providing safe and therapeutic care.
- Consistently follow established standards, policies, and procedures in providing nursing care.
- Accept accountability for the clinical care of assigned patients, including supervision of non‑professional personnel.
- Communicate with the patient, family members, and health‑care team to achieve goals of the care plan.
- Promote positive public relations with patients, residents, family members, and guests.
- Use tactful, appropriate communication in sensitive and emotional situations.
- Maintain appropriate workplace behavior and adhere to dress code at all times.
