Registered Nurse - Correctional

Job Description

Job Summary:

Performing as a Correctional Registered Nurse, responsible for providing comprehensive nursing care within a detention center setting. This role emphasizes addiction treatment, detox management, and assessment of patients undergoing substance withdrawal.

Responsibilities:

• Administer medications and treatments including Suboxone, detox medications, and Methadone in accordance with facility protocols.
• Conduct patient assessments and monitor withdrawal symptoms, ensuring safety and compliance with treatment plans.
• Document clinical encounters accurately within Cerner electronic health records.
• Collaborate with the Addictions Medicine department to manage patient care and treatment inductions.
• Educate patients on withdrawal processes, medication usage, and relapse prevention strategies.
• Maintain compliance with all certification, license, and facility requirements.

Qualifications:

• Hold an active RN license, with pending licensure accepted.
• Possess 1-2 years of nursing experience, preferably in correctional or addiction settings.
• Certification in BLS, ACLS, and MOAB (facility-provided) required; MOAB certification must be obtained or completed during orientation if not already certified.
• Able to pass a facility background check and drug screening.
• Demonstrate knowledge of substance use disorders, detox protocols, and related medical treatments.
• Willing to work 12-hour night shifts and accommodate block scheduling as needed.
