Job Overview

Optum New Mexico is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our Cardiology team in Albuquerque, NM.

Location:

Sunport Location, Transport St SE, Albuquerque, NM

Schedule:

Full‑time, Monday – Friday

Patient Volume:
Approx. 14–15 patients per day (40 min new patient, 20 min established patient)

• Consult patients to understand their symptoms and health concerns
• Prescribe tests, treatments, and/or surgery when necessary
• Maintain detailed notes of appointments, including comments, tests, treatments prescribed, and results
• Perform tests to assess heart and cardiovascular health
• Interpret test results to determine cardiovascular function
• Use medical imaging equipment (CT, MRI scanners) to diagnose and treat heart conditions
• Assist and/or perform surgery, including complex interventions requiring a multidisciplinary team
• Prescribe medication for heart and cardiovascular disease
• Provide support and advice to patients receiving long‑term care
• Train and provide educational support to junior staff as needed

• National Nurse Practitioner certification through AANC or AANP, or Physician Assistant/ARNP certification, or ability to obtain prior to employment
• Unrestricted licensure in New Mexico, or ability to obtain prior to employment
• Current DEA registration, or ability to obtain prior to employment
• Current BLS and ACLS certification
• EMR proficiency
