Dialysis Registered Nurse Job Description Job Title Dialysis Registered Nurse Job Summary Join a dynamic Dialysis team at a 554-bed Level I Trauma, Children's, and Teaching Hospital located in Albuquerque, New Mexico. This acute care facility provides comprehensive services to a diverse adult patient population, primarily focusing on End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) and Acute Kidney Injury (AKI). The Dialysis unit features five bays, managing up to five patients per shift across typically three to four shifts daily, treating approximately 13-15 patients in the unit and an additional 2-4 bedside treatments.
The role also encompasses the management of peritoneal dialysis for hospitalized patients, ensuring a broad scope of practice within a fast-paced acute care environment.
- Provide comprehensive hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis care for adult patients with ESRD and AKI.
- Manage a patient ratio of 1:2, ensuring high-quality, individualized patient care.
- Perform bedside dialysis treatments as required by patient census and acuity.
- Operate and monitor various dialysis equipment, including Gambro Phoenix HD, Tablo HD, and Baxter Home Choice Pro PD machines.
- Administer medications, blood products, and specialized solutions (e.g., Mannitol, Albumin, 23.4% NaCl) as per physician orders.
