Position: Travel Operating Room Registered Nurse - $1,734 per week

Position Overview

TNAA Total Med RN seeks an operating room (OR) travel nurse (RN‑OR) in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The assignment is a 13‑week, 36‑hour per week, 12‑hour shift role on a travel basis.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist physicians and medical staff in caring for surgical patients, providing pre‑ and post‑surgery care and education.
  • Circulating OR nurses work within the operating suite outside the sterile field; scrub OR nurses handle and prepare instruments within the sterile field.
  • Prepare instruments for specific procedures, monitor and observe patients during surgery, and respond to complications with the physician.
  • Provide basic bedside care; administer and record prescribed medication; report adverse reactions.
  • Act as communication liaison between patients’ families and the operating team.
  • Ensure correct procedures are performed on the correct patient.
  • Initiate patient education plans; teach medication and home care management.
  • For circulating OR nurses: respond to comfort and safety needs; manage specimens; monitor equipment; inventory surgical items pre‑ and post‑procedure.
  • For scrub OR nurses: select and handle instruments and supplies; inventory surgical items pre‑ and post‑procedure.
  • For RN first assistants: deliver direct surgical care; help control bleeding; suture patients post‑surgery.
Qualifications
  • Registered Nurse (RN) with 1–2 years of recent acute care experience as a circulating or scrub nurse, and/or RN first assistant.
  • BLS certification; minimum 2 years of experience.
  • Additional certifications may be required prior to assignment.
  • Ability to stand and walk for long periods, lift up to 20 lbs routinely and up to 50 lbs as needed, with no difficulty bending, leaning or stooping.
  • Comfortable working in a sterile field and exposure to chemicals or infectious diseases.
