Registered Nurse in a Progressive Care Unit
The position is for a Registered Nurse in a Progressive Care Unit. The role requires working night shifts for a duration of 13 weeks. The typical hours are for three 12-hour shifts per week. The nurse will care for patients with cardiovascular conditions. The patient-to-nurse ratio will be 1:4. Float requirements may be necessary based on the needs of the unit.
There is no on-call requirement for this position. Weekend work may be needed on a rotating basis. Successful candidates will have experience with telemetry and cardiac monitoring. The nurse will be expected to provide high-quality care to patients experiencing various cardiac issues. Additional skills such as managing cardiac drips, central line care, and interpretation of dysrhythmias are essential. Teamwork and collaboration with interdisciplinary support services are expected.
Candidates should be prepared for a fast-paced environment with a daily census around 38 patients. This role will require effective communication and patient advocacy skills. The nursing team will have access to support services including physical therapy, respiratory services, and pharmacy. The average daily census on the unit consists of 55 beds. Knowledge of procedures related to post-cardiac care is beneficial.
