Schedule
- Shift: Days
- Shift options: 36- or 48-hour shifts (hours >48 = overtime) - Weekend requirement: 6 weekend shifts within a 6-week period
Requirements
- Minimum: 1 year recent Med/Surg or relevant experience
- Required:
BLS, NIHSS (NIHSS pending accepted) - Preferred: CPI
- Charting system:
Epic
- Key clinical skills: IV start/maintenance, peripheral/PICC/central line care, central line blood draws, wound care/Wound VAC, feeding tube care, chest tube management, HFNC/oxygen therapies, PCA, insulin/heparin management, basic phlebotomy, pre/post hemodialysis familiarity
Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care to adults and geriatric patients in a medical-surgical neurology unit.
- Monitor patient condition and communicate any changes to the healthcare team.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement patient care plans.
- Educate patients and families about health management and treatments.
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation.
Compliance / Notes
- Orientation: ~24 hours
- Pending NM/Compact license accepted but must be obtained prior to start.
- Once contract signed, traveler expected to complete required labs within 48 business hours.
- Previous staff must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler.
