Get to Know Your Team:

* Lovelace Women's Hospital is a 53-bed advanced neonatal intensive care unit, family care unit, an award-winning breast care center and the first robotic surgery program in the state recognized as a Center of Excellence in Robotic Surgery by Surgical Review Corporation.

Responsibilities

* Registered Nurses practicing as first assistants in surgery are functioning in an expanded perioperative nursing role.

* First assisting activities are further executed within the context of the nursing process and in accordance with the State Board of Nursing Practice and institutional policies.

* RNFA activities commonly include: assisting the surgeon with exposure, hemostasis, closure and other intra-operative technical functions under the supervision of a surgeon.

* Other activities may include certain delegated medical functions that can be assumed by the RN who is qualified to practice as an RNFA.

* A RN license is required as well as RNFA Certification through the AORN Training/Certification Program

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

* Associate's degree in nursing or Diploma of Nursing and RNFA Certification through AORN.

* Valid NM Nursing license.

* Successful completion of an RNFA program through AORN with Certification.

* BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.

* 3 years of RN experience and 2 years of RNFA experience. The 2 years of RNFA experience may be part of the 3 years of RN experience.

Preferred

* Technical training as a Scrub Nurse or Scrub Technician.
