Description

American Traveler is hiring a Night Shift RN for a Progressive Care Unit position requiring NM or Compact RN license and cardiovascular experience.

Details
  • Work in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) functioning as a cardiac stepdown unit within a dedicated Heart Hospital setting
  • 55-bed unit with a significant cardiac patient population
  • Patient ratio of 1:4
  • Night shift schedule (3x12 hours), 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM
  • Option of 36 or 48 hours per week
  • Rotating weekend requirement as needed
  • Floating required to like units within scope based on facility needs, with brief orientation provided
  • No on-call requirements
  • Epic charting system experience required
Requirements
  • Active RN license (NM or Compact) required, pending compact accepted if obtained prior to start
  • BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • NIHSS certification required
  • CPI certification preferred
  • 1-2 years of RN experience required, with cardiovascular experience specifically needed
  • Epic charting experience required
  • Skills in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and telemetry monitoring
  • Experience with cardiac drip management and heparin protocols
  • Experience with central line, PICC line, and peripheral line care preferred
  • Experience with chest tube management (Emerson/Pleur Evac) preferred
  • Experience with BiPAP/CPAP and high flow nasal cannula management preferred
  • Experience with sheath removal and pre/post cardiac catheterization care
  • Post cardiac surgery and post MI care experience preferred
Additional Information
  • Provide cardiac telemetry nursing care including monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and emergency response
  • Perform procedural sedation administration and monitoring
  • Manage wound care and wound vac therapy
  • Administer IV insulin protocols and manage blood glucose
  • Provide GI care including feeding tube management
  • Scrubs of any color accepted, no logos permitted
  • First-time travelers are accepted
  • Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility; local candidates within this radius are not accepted
  • Former staff members must wait one year before returning as a traveler
  • No more than 3-4 days of RTO will be auto-approved, and RTO is not permitted during the first week of orientation
  • Travel pairs or groups are not accepted
