RN-Registered Nurse // Manager, Nurse Manager

Pay: $57.00 - $57.50/hour ($2,280.0 - $2,300 weekly base pay) |
Location: Albuquerque, NM |
Assignment Length: 13 weeks |
Start Date: 8/03/2026 |
Schedule: 8 hours/day, 5 days/week (08:00 AM - 04:00 PM)

Responsibilities and Accountabilities
  • Administrative:
    • Collaborate with the Director of Nursing in maintaining adequate nursing coverage to provide safe nursing care for 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
    • Effectively utilize existing client resources, limiting use of overtime and agency personnel.
    • Participate in staff recruitment (assist in interviewing and selection of nursing personnel).
    • Assess the work performance of nursing staff as it relates to their job description, unit standards of care and goals of the individual.
    • Implement the Individual Performance Improvement Plan for staff whose performance does not meet center expectations, and, when necessary, recommend or initiate disciplinary action.
    • Conduct regular staff meetings on each shift and provide updates to the Director of Nursing.
    • Collaborate with other departments to provide timely, effective care consistent with individuals' needs, choices and preferences.
    • Promote a culture of safety to ensure a healthy practice and living environment.
    • Participate in center nursing committees as requested.
    • Participate in meetings to address patient care, survey and/or standards of care issues.
    • Participate in center meetings such as Utilization Management, Customer at Risk, Care Planning, Quality Improvement, etc.
    • Submit requests for the budget.
    • Assume nursing administrative responsibilities of the center for weekend and holiday coverage as requested.
    • Stay and work beyond scheduled shift if needed to meet state staffing requirements and/or needs of patients.
  • Clinical Leadership:
    • Plan, organize, direct, supervise and evaluate nursing care provided on the unit to achieve clinical and financial outcomes.
    • Provide professional guidance and supervision to non‑professional unit staff.
    • Ensure patient care assignments are consistent with staff competencies, scope of practice and patient needs.
    • Ensure timely and accurate compliance of the MDS process and that it reflects the patient’s plan of care.
    • Participate with the interdisciplinary team in developing, implementing and evaluating ways to achieve patient goals and minimize rehospitalizations.
    • Ensure Point Click Care (PCC) is utilized according to the business processes.
    • Contact attending physician to obtain orders as indicated (e.g., admission, change in condition).
    • Ensure that physician orders are followed as prescribed.
    • Oversee medication management to ensure adequate supplies and that all medications are handled in accordance with Genesis policy.
    • Ensure that the patient’s attending physician and family or responsible party are promptly notified of any significant change in the patient’s health condition.
    • Create an environment that is respectful, team‑oriented and responsive to the concerns of staff, patients and families.
    • Ensure communication between licensed nursing staff and CNAs during and between shifts.
    • Participate in shift‑to‑shift communication between incoming and outgoing nursing staff.
    • Serve as a role model in the delivery of direct patient care using the nursing process.
    • Provide patient care when required.
    • Ensure discharge planning process is in place and provide consultation as needed.
    • Ensure complete and prompt reporting of incidents, accidents, and adverse events to administrator and director of nursing.
    • Investigate patient/family complaints and take appropriate actions to bring them to resolution.
  • Education:
    • Identify educational needs of the staff and plan with the Nurse Practice Educator (NPE) a program to meet needs.
    • Evaluate and provide feedback to the NPE and to the individual staff member regarding effectiveness of the program.
    • Participate in evaluation of staff competency.
    • Demonstrate, teach and evaluate nursing skills utilized in direct patient care of the unit’s specific patient population.
    • Promote professional development and career opportunities for nursing staff.
