Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a CVICU position requiring 2+ years of ICU experience, ACLS/BLS certification, and a NM or compact RN license.

Details
  • Work in the Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) of a Level I Trauma, teaching hospital
  • Care for post-op open heart, CABG, aortic aneurysm/dissection repair, fem-pop bypass, pulmonary embolism, cardiac arrest, endovascular repair, heart failure, MODS, and sepsis patients
  • Patient ratio of 1:2
  • Perform bedside surgical procedures including CRRT, ECMO, IABP, Impella, Swan-Ganz lines, arterial lines, central venous catheters, chest tubes, foley insertion, and NG tube placement
  • Uses specialized equipment including CRRT, Hemosphere, Bladder Scanner, Cortrak, Ultrasound, Phillips monitors, Impella, IABP, ECMO, ZOLL, Dopplers, Glidescope, Pupilometer, Blanketrol, Arctic Sun, Belmont, and Bair Hugger
  • Cerner EMR experience preferred
  • Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 7:30
  • Weekend shifts required as needed
  • No on-call responsibilities
  • May float to other ICUs, PCU floors, ED (to care for admitted patients), and PACU (to care for admitted patients)
  • 36 or 48 contracted hours per week, though facility may call off up to 3 times during a 13-week assignment
  • Block scheduling not guaranteed
Requirements
  • Active RN license (NM or Compact) required
  • Current certifications: BLS and ACLS required; NIHSS and TNCC preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
  • CVICU experience preferred
  • Trauma Level II experience required;
    Trauma Level I and teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Cerner charting system experience preferred
  • Skills required include IV therapy, arterial line management, blood product administration, central line care/management, and starting/maintaining IVs
  • Experience with ventilator management, ABG interpretation, and suctioning (ETT, NT) required
  • Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation/management, titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips, and obtaining 12-lead EKG/ECG required
  • Pending license accepted
Additional Information
  • Must work 2 out of 3 holiday bundles:
    Thanksgiving & the day after, Christmas Eve & Christmas Day, or New Year's Eve & New Year's Day
  • COVID vaccine is optional but facility requires reporting of vaccination status or declination
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • RTO requests greater than 7 days require approval
  • No candidates residing within 100 miles of the facility will be accepted
  • Black scrubs required
  • Assignment length is 18 weeks with a minimum contract length of 10 weeks for new contracts and extensions
  • Overtime must be approved by the client before being worked
  • Travelers who have completed 4 consecutive assignments or reached the one-year mark require a 6-month system break
  • Former staff members require 12 months of separation before eligibility
