Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a CVICU position requiring NM or compact licensure, 2+ years of CVICU experience, and Trauma Level II experience.

Details
  • Work in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) of a Level I Trauma, teaching, children's hospital providing short-term acute care
  • Care for post-op open heart, CABG, aortic aneurysm/dissection repair, fem pop bypass, pulmonary embolism, cardiac arrest, endovascular repair, heart failure, MODS, and sepsis patients
  • Maintain a 1:2 patient ratio
  • Perform bedside procedures including trach/PEG, CRRT, ECMO, IABP, Impella, Swan-Ganz catheters, arterial lines, CVCs, chest tubes, foley insertion, and NG tubes
  • Utilize equipment such as CRRT, Hemosphere, bladder scanner, Cortrak, ultrasound, Phillips monitors, Impella, IABP, ECMO, ZOLL, Dopplers, Glidescope, pupilometer, Blanketrol, Arctic Sun, Belmont, and Bair Hugger
  • Cerner charting system used, experience preferred
  • Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours (19:00-7:30)
  • Weekend shifts required as needed
  • No on-call requirements
  • May float within scope to other ICUs, PCU floors, ED (for admitted patients), and PACU (for admitted patients)
  • Contracted for 36 or 48 hours per week, with facility allowed up to 3 call-offs during the 13-week assignment
Requirements
  • Active RN license (NM or Compact) required, pending license accepted
  • BLS and ACLS certifications required; NIHSS and TNCC certifications preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
  • CVICU experience preferred
  • Trauma Level II experience required;
    Trauma Level I and teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Cerner charting experience preferred
  • Skills required include IV therapy, arterial line management, blood product administration, central line care, and starting/maintaining IVs
  • Additional preferred skills include port access/management, PICC line management, TPN/lipids administration, ACT, fibrinogen, INR, and PT/PTT monitoring
  • Experience with ventilator management, ABG interpretation, respiratory failure, and pulmonary embolism care required
  • Experience with CVP monitoring, epicardial pacing wire care, sheath removal, and titration of cardiac/vasoactive drips required
  • Experience managing dysrhythmias and obtaining 12-lead EKG/ECG required
  • Non-local candidates only, with non-local driver's license required on file
Additional Information
  • Must work 2 of the 3 designated holiday bundles:
    Thanksgiving & the day after, Christmas Eve & Christmas Day, or New Year's Eve & New Year's Day
  • COVID vaccine is optional, but candidates must upload vaccine series documentation or a declination
  • Must reside outside a 100-mile radius of the facility
  • First-time travelers are accepted for this position
  • Requests for RTO greater than 7 days require facility approval
  • Black scrub color required
  • No fee for parking
  • Candidates must complete a 6-month system break if they have worked 4 consecutive assignments or reached the one-year mark, whichever comes first
  • Former staff must have a 12-month separation before returning
  • Assignment length is 18 weeks with new contracts and extensions requiring a minimum of 10 weeks
