Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a CVICU position at a Level I Trauma teaching hospital, requiring NM or compact RN license and prior CVICU experience.

Details
  • hospital acute care setting within the CVICU/CTVICU unit
  • Cares for post-op open heart, CABG, aortic aneurysm repair, fem-pop bypass, pulmonary embolism, cardiac arrest, endovascular repair, heart failure, MODS, and sepsis patients
  • Patient ratio of 1:2
  • Performs bedside surgical procedures including CRRT, ECMO, IABP, Impella, Swan-Ganz, arterial lines, CVCs, chest tubes, Foley insertion, and NG tube placement
  • Uses equipment including CRRT, Hemosphere, bladder scanner, Cortrak, ultrasound, Phillips monitors, Impella, IABP, ECMO, ZOLL, Dopplers, Glidescope, Pupilometer, Blanketrol, Arctic Sun, Belmont, and Bair Hugger
  • Charts using Cerner (experience preferred)
  • Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
  • Weekend shifts required as needed
  • No on-call requirements
  • May float within scope to other ICUs, PCU floors, ED, or PACU to care for admitted patients
  • Contracted for 36 or 48 hours per week, with facility allowed up to 3 call-offs during a 13-week assignment
Requirements
  • Active RN license (NM or Compact) required, pending license accepted
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
  • Required certifications: ACLS, BLS
  • Preferred certifications: NIHSS, TNCC
  • CVICU experience preferred
  • Trauma Level II experience required;
    Trauma Level I and teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Cerner charting experience preferred
  • Skills required include IV therapy, arterial line management, blood product administration, central line care, and starting/maintaining IVs
  • Experience with ventilator management, ABG interpretation, and suctioning required
  • Experience with cardiac drip titration, dysrhythmia management, and 12-lead EKG acquisition required
Additional Information
  • Provide critical care nursing to complex cardiovascular and cardiothoracic surgical patients
  • Facility is a Level I Trauma, teaching, children's hospital with 554 staffed beds
  • Must work 2 of the following 3 holiday bundles:
    Thanksgiving & the day after, Christmas Eve & Christmas Day, New Year's Eve & New Year's Day
  • COVID vaccine is optional, but proof of vaccination series or declination must be submitted for facility reporting purposes
  • Black scrubs required
  • First-time travelers are accepted
  • No local candidates within a 100-mile radius of the facility; non-local driver's license required on file
  • Requests for RTO greater than 7 days require approval; no RTO permitted during the first 7 days or last day of the contract
  • Block scheduling is not guaranteed
  • Assignment length is 18 weeks
