Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ER Holding RN for a night shift position at a Level I Trauma teaching hospital requiring telemetry skills and NM or compact RN licensure.

Details
  • Work in the Adult Admission Unit (AAU), functioning as an ER Holding unit adjacent to the Emergency Department
  • Fast-paced unit managing admitted patients transitioning from the ED until placement on inpatient progressive care units
  • Unit has 17 beds plus up to 8 hall beds
  • Diverse patient population spanning all specialties except ICU-level patients
  • Patient ratio of 1 RN to 4-5 patients
  • Night shift, 4x12 hours, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
  • Contracted hours available at 36, 40, or 48 hours per week
  • Floating required to the ED for admitted patients, ICU for sub-acute care assignments, and any inpatient PCU area
  • Relief charge duties may be required as needed
  • No on-call requirements
  • Uses Cerner charting system
Requirements
  • Active RN license (New Mexico or Compact) required
  • Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
  • Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS
  • RQI certifications not accepted
  • Prior travel experience required for this ER position
  • Skilled in telemetry monitoring and interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
  • Experience managing cardiac drips (no titration) required
  • Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and starting/maintaining IVs
  • Level I Trauma experience preferred
  • Previous charge nurse experience preferred
  • Strong time management skills required
  • Non-local candidates only, must reside more than 100 miles from the facility
  • Non-local driver's license required on file
Additional Information
  • Monitor and interpret telemetry while managing a variety of medical equipment
  • Assist with turn and burn patient flow, including frequent transfers and admissions
  • Work at a Level I Trauma, Teaching, and Children's Hospital with 554 staffed beds
  • Scrub color is black; scrubs are not provided
  • No parking fees
  • Must work 2 of the following 3 holiday bundles:
    Thanksgiving & the day after, Christmas Eve & Christmas Day, or New Year's Eve & New Year's Day
  • Open to accommodating block scheduling
  • Facility may call off up to 3 times during a 13-week assignment
  • RTO requests exceeding 7 days require approval
  • No RTO permitted during the first or last 7 days of the contract
  • Contracts and extensions must be at least 10 weeks in length
  • A 6-month system break is required after 1 year or 4 consecutive assignments, whichever comes first
  • Former staff must have a 12-month separation before returning
  • Behavioral Health-related staff without MOAB certification must complete in-person MOAB training during orientation week
