Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a CVICU Nights position requiring NM or compact RN license and previous travel experience.

Details
  • Work in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) of a hospital setting
  • 13-week assignment
  • Night shift, 4x12 hours (18:30-7:00)
  • Option of 36 or 48 hours per week
  • Patient ratio of 1:2
  • Floating to like units within scope required as needed based on facility needs, with brief orientation provided
Requirements
  • Active RN license (New Mexico or Compact) required, must be obtained prior to start if pending
  • Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS required
  • Minimum 2 years of CVICU experience preferred
  • Previous travel nursing experience required
  • Skills required include IV therapy, arterial line management, blood product administration, central line care/management, PICC line management, and starting/maintaining IVs
  • Respiratory/thoracic skills required including chest tube assistance, BiPAP/CPAP management, ventilator management, HFNC, ABG interpretation, and suctioning (ETT, NT)
  • Renal experience required including chronic/acute renal failure and CVVHD/CRRT
  • Medication management skills required including continuous IV sedation, procedural sedation, and titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips
  • Neurological skills required including CVA/acute stroke management and hypothermia protocol/Arctic Sun
  • Cardiovascular skills required including IABP, post cardiac surgery care, pre/post cardiac cath intervention, Swan Ganz monitoring, sheath removal, and TAVR
  • ECMO and GI surgery experience preferred
  • Professional skills required including infection prevention, isolation precautions/PPE, phlebotomy, cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and multisystem organ dysfunction/failure management
  • IV insulin protocol experience required
  • Epic charting experience preferred
Additional Information
  • Provide critical care nursing to cardiovascular ICU patients including post-surgical, cardiac catheterization, and hemodynamically unstable patients
  • No travel pairs or groups accepted
  • Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility, as locals are not accepted
  • Former staff must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
  • No more than 3 days of RTO will be auto-approved, and no RTO is permitted during the first week of orientation
  • First-time travelers may be considered depending on experience
