American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position requiring NM or Compact RN license and prior ER nursing experience.
Details- General Emergency Department serving combined adult/pediatric patients
- Level I and Level II Trauma Center within a STEMI and Stroke certified facility
- Night shift, 4x12 hours (18:30-07:00)
- Option of 36 or 48 hours per week
- At least 6 weekend shifts required within a 6-week schedule
- 1:5 patient ratio
- Epic charting system preferred
- Floating to like units within scope required as needed based on facility needs
- Active NM or Compact RN license required (pending NM/Compact license accepted if obtained prior to start)
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, PALS
- Preferred certifications: CPI, TNCC
- 2 years of ER nursing experience preferred
- Previous charge nurse experience preferred
- Teaching hospital, community hospital, LTAC, and Trauma Level I/II experience preferred
- Skilled in IV therapy/phlebotomy, arterial line management, central line care, and blood product administration
- Experience with BiPAP/CPAP management and care of ventilated patients
- Experience interpreting ABGs and managing IV sedation/vasopressors
- Experience with cardiac dysrhythmia interpretation and management
- Experience in triage and isolation precautions/PPE
- Provide emergency care across trauma, cardiac, neurological, respiratory, and pediatric cases
- May manage shock/trauma cases including gunshot wounds and traumatic amputations
- May care for pediatric emergencies including head injury and near drowning cases
- May assist with neuro-trauma cases including CVA, spinal cord injury, and traumatic brain injury
- May assist with ortho trauma cases
- Brief unit orientation provided when floating to other departments
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be eligible for the position
- Former staff must wait one year before returning as a traveler
- Maximum of 4 days RTO can be auto-approved at time of submission
