Functions as a cardiac stepdown unit with a significant cardiac patient population. Option of 36 or 48 hours per week. Preferred experience of 2 years but will consider applicants with 1 year of relevant experience. First-time travelers are accepted. Local travelers will not be accepted. Patient ratios are 1:4. Weekend requirements will be as needed in a rotating manner. Float requirements are mandatory.
No on-call requirement. Block scheduling will be assessed on a case-by-case basis. Certifications required include BLS, ACLS, NIH, and CPI preferred. This unit has a capacity of 55 beds. Daily census averages 38 patients. Team support includes physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and transportation. Expected patient diagnoses include congestive heart failure, ST elevation myocardial infarction, non-ST elevation myocardial infarction, and other cardiovascular-related conditions.
Skills required include management of BiPAP/CPAP, blood product administration, cardiac telemetry, central line care/management, post-cardiac procedures, and various other cardiovascular nursing skills. Travelers are expected to float to similar units within their scope based on facility needs. Brief orientation will be provided upon assignment. Expected compliance with necessary requirements should be confirmed prior to contract signing.
