About the Role
Mesa Quantum is building the manufacturing backbone of the quantum sensing economy. We develop chip-scale quantum sensors that enable resilient Position, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) in GPS-denied environments-critical for national security, infrastructure, and next-generation autonomous systems.
We are establishing a pre-shipment testing and qualification site in Albuquerque, NM to support a portfolio of quantum photonic products. The Photonics Test Technician will execute structured, batch-based testing in accordance with defined Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure devices meet established qualification criteria prior to shipment.
This role supports testing across a range of quantum products — from discrete photonic components to integrated subsystems — requiring adaptability and careful attention to product-specific procedures.
As the program scales, the technician will contribute to maintaining test consistency, identifying improvement opportunities, and supporting controlled refinement of workflows.
This is a hands‑on technical role within a disciplined but evolving qualification environment.
Key Responsibilities- Execute batch-based device testing strictly according to established SOPs
- Perform optical alignment, system setup, and hardware configuration required for standardized qualification testing
- Support testing across multiple product types, adapting to product-specific procedures while maintaining process discipline
- Operate designated test equipment and monitor system performance during test runs
- Accurately capture and document qualification data in structured systems
- Identify deviations, equipment inconsistencies, or unexpected results and elevate appropriately
- Participate in structured feedback discussions during program ramp-up to improve robustness and efficiency
- Support implementation of approved procedural updates
- Maintain clean, organized laboratory environments
- Assist with routine equipment checks and preventative maintenance activities
- In your last semester or have obtained an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Photonics, Optics, Electrical Engineering Technology, Physics, or related technical field OR equivalent hands‑on industry experience
- Comfort working across multiple product types within structured test frameworks
- Strong procedural discipline and attention to detail
- Willingness to raise concerns and contribute to continuous improvement discussions
- Ability to adapt to evolving procedures in a scaling environment
- Cleanroom experience preferred
- Consistent, repeatable execution of qualification testing across diverse product types
- Clear, traceable documentation supporting pre‑shipment qualification decisions
- Early identification and escalation of anomalies
- Professional collaboration across technical and operational teams
