Position: HS Research Tech 2

Overview

HS Research Tech 2:
The Division of Epidemiology, Biostatistics, and Preventive Medicine within the Department of Internal Medicine is seeking a HS Research Technician 2 to support computational biology research in Dr. Vadigepalli’s research laboratory. This position will contribute to data-driven research activities focused on the analysis and modeling of complex biological and health-related data.

The successful candidate will demonstrate strong programming skills in Python, R, and/or MATLAB, with the ability to apply computational approaches to research questions. Experience or familiarity with artificial intelligence and machine learning methods is highly desirable. Prior research experience in a laboratory, academic, or applied research setting is preferred.

Responsibilities
  • Contribute to data-driven research activities focused on the analysis and modeling of complex biological and health-related data.
  • Apply computational approaches to research questions using Python, R, and/or MATLAB.
  • Leverage knowledge of artificial intelligence and machine learning methods as applicable to research projects.
Conditions of Employment
  • For individual positions in which driving is a job requirement, a valid NM driver’s license and valid UNM driver’s permit will be required.
  • Successful candidate must submit to post-offer, pre-employment physical examination and medical history check.
  • Annual TB testing may be required if working in a patient care area.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
  • Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year-for-year basis.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field
  • 0-2 years of related research experience
  • Programming skills in Python, R, or MATLAB
  • Previous experience in using artificial intelligence and machine learning methods
