The lab focuses on decoding the epigenetic basis of ocular and metastatic cancers, dry age-related macular degeneration (dAMD), and defining the molecular mechanisms driving chronic inflammation. This is an opportunity to participate in cutting-edge biomedical research with potential impact on future diagnostics and therapeutics.
The Research Scientist will help oversee retinal organoid maintenance and experiments, decode microglia-associated inflammation gene regulatory networks, and contribute to Uveal Melanoma metastasis projects. The role includes assisting with co-culture experiments, single-cell multi-omics experiments, big data analysis, flow cytometry, immuno-microscopy, molecular biology experiments, and manuscript preparation. Tasks include performing routine scientific research, animal research, maintaining accurate experiment/sample databases, developing and utilizing established protocols, planning and conducting experiments, ensuring data integrity and protocol compliance, and contributing to recruitment and retention strategies.
The position will also communicate research findings to the scientific community through peer-reviewed journal articles and contribute to grants, literature reviews, and contract proposals. Trainees and students (undergrad, PhD, MD, and post-doc) may be supported in ongoing projects focused on uveal melanoma, cancer epigenetics, and AMD.
