The Yang lab seeks a motivated post-doctoral fellow to lead an NIH-funded research project addressing lymphocyte-driven pulmonary inflammation at the University of New Mexico School of Medicine in Albuquerque, NM, USA.
Our research program investigates the roles of TH2 cells, Th17 cells, and ILC2s in airway inflammation elicited by pathogens and non-pathogenic environmental materials, as well as the underlying molecular basis. Role DescriptionThis is a full-time, on-site role for a Postdoctoral Researcher specializing in Immunology at The University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center, located in Albuquerque, NM. Responsibilities include conducting immunology-focused research, managing laboratory experiments, analyzing data, and preparing research findings for publication. The role also involves contributing to collaborative projects, mentoring junior researchers, and assisting in grant preparation and academic presentations.
The Postdoctoral Researcher will work closely with a team to advance the understanding of immunological processes and contribute to the institution's research mission.
Minimum Qualifications:
Postdoctoral applicants should have a recent doctoral degree or be expected to receive one soon in biomedical sciences. Ideally, a candidate will have expertise in multiple wet lab techniques, such as mouse handling, tissue culture, flow cytometry, ELISAs, RT-PCR, and immunoblots. A candidate must meet high standards of integrity and responsibility and maintain excellent records. It is also expected that a competitive candidate will have authored at least one peer-reviewed manuscript.
Duties & Responsibilities
In general, a postdoctoral associate is trained under the supervision of the faculty mentor. Her/his duties include (but are not limited to):
- Performs laboratory research and maintains adequate research records.
- Assists in the design of research experiments.
- Evaluates research findings and assists in the reporting of the results.
- Collaborates with members of the research group.
- Maintains conformity with ethical standards in research.
- Prepares and submits papers and presents data at conferences.
- Assists with grant preparation and reporting.
