Job Description

Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:

Cashier/Checker is responsible for being visible and actively greeting, engaging and assisting customers.

Process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently.

Understand the Point of Sale (POS) system and handle various tenders according to company policy.

Adhere to company limits on cash shortages/overages and control loss.

Follow guidelines on restricted sale items (Alcohol, Tobacco, DVDs).

Report pricing discrepancies.

Follow policies for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons.

Stay current with ads and promotions.

Adhere to food safety regulations and safety procedures.

Identify unsafe conditions and notify management.

Perform preventive maintenance and report repairs needed.

Create a welcoming environment for customers.

Follow all laws and company guidelines.

Work cooperatively in a high-paced environment.

Manage conflict professionally.

Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.

Follow directions and seek help when needed.

Support interactions with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.

Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

Qualifications

Minimum Position Qualifications:

Customer service experience
Effective communication skills
Basic math skills (counting, addition, subtraction)

Desired Previous Job Experience

Customer service experience
Experience as a Bagger or Courtesy Clerk
