Position Summary
Under general supervision of the Rentals Manager, the Rentals Work Study Intern upholds Explora’s customer service standards while booking rental services for internal and external clients. The Intern supports the operations and logistics for rentals at Explora, including setting up and tearing down for events. Working closely with the Rentals Manager, Administrative Assistant, Rentals Assistant, Event Staff, and the Facilities Department, the Intern serves as the primary contact for event vendors, assisting with setup, teardown, and closing exhibits.
The Intern also serves as a backup for equipment maintenance. This position requires work on evenings and weekends as needed.
- Provide logistical and operational assistance for rentals.
- Oversee setup and teardown for events in accordance with Work Orders.
- Participate in security operations, including fire alarm and emergency situations.
- Create a welcoming environment for all Explora clients and partners.
- Answer questions and problem‑solve issues as they arise.
- Work independently to complete delegated tasks before and during rentals.
- Learn and effectively utilize Google Suites and Cogran.
- Maintain composure in fast‑paced environments.
- Maintain a professional appearance and attire for client interactions.
- Work evenings and weekends as required.
- Assist with moving furniture and equipment as needed.
- Work independently and with a team.
- Play an active role in Explora’s mission.
- Demonstrate stellar customer service at all times.
- Comply with all operational policies, especially safety policies.
- Perform other duties assigned by the director or manager.
- Experience with customer service.
- Well developed organizational, time‑management, and communication skills.
- Basic computer skills.
- Ability to work in a business environment, including organizing, coordinating, and exercising daily decision-making.
- Physical ability to stand and walk approximately 70% of the time, perform tasks such as sitting, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, handling materials, pulling, carrying, and pushing.
- Effective eye‑and‑hand coordination and manual dexterity.
- Capability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Must possess a valid Work‑Study award.
- Facility may expose the employee to loud noise levels, temperature changes, and physical obstacles.
- Museum facilities may expose the incumbent to high noise levels, temperature changes, liquid nitrogen, helium gas, electrical exposure, unpredictable ventilation, dust, and physical obstacles.
- Work is normally performed in an area of limited privacy.
