Retail Store Tailor Part Time

Responsibilities

• Perform standard modifications such as pant hems, waist and seat adjustments, rise and tapering, coat sleeves, side seams, and lower collar adjustments, following company guidelines.
• Maintain a productivity rate of 60 minutes of alteration work per working hour, while allowing appropriate rest and meal periods and time for non‑tailoring tasks as needed.
• Ensure every garment meets high‑quality standards, featuring clean finishes, secure stitching, even seams, and no loose threads or pins.
• Press garments to achieve a clean, crisp finish.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient workspace; keep tools and materials properly stored and maintained.
• Demonstrate proficiency with all tailor shop equipment.
• Accurately tag, organize, and prepare completed work for customer pickup.
• Assist with inventory management by monitoring tailoring supplies and requesting replenishment from management as needed.
• Support front‑of‑house activities such as cleaning, restocking merchandise, or assisting customers as required.
• Participate in customer consultations under management direction, offering guidance and recommendations on alterations and garment fit.
• Deliver an exceptional customer experience by listening to customer needs and offering personalized solutions.

• Ability to operate small tools and equipment—including needles, scissors, sewing machines, and presses—with precision.
• Ability to understand, follow, and execute detailed instructions.
• Ability to sit and stand for extended periods.
• Strong attention to detail to ensure all garments meet quality standards.
• Excellent time‑management skills to complete each alteration efficiently within designated time frames.
• Ability to communicate clearly and professionally.
• Ability to read, count, and write to complete required documentation accurately.
• Physical ability to bend, squat, lift arms overhead, and use ladders to access merchandise and supplies stored above shoulder level.
• Ability to work at least 20 hours per week when needed, including any days and hours the store is in operation.
