We are looking for an Account Executive to drive new revenue for a leader in cloud computing. In this role you will increase awareness and adoption of Amazon Web Services (AWS) in state government, leveraging your business acumen, relationships, government sales experience, and technical background to help agencies solve their most pressing challenges. Amazon Web Services is expanding in the U.S. Public Sector market, offering a creative, fast‑paced, entrepreneurial environment at the center of Amazon innovation.

As an Account Executive within Amazon Web Services, you will lead engagement with the State of New Mexico’s government agencies as they modernize IT services and improve the citizen experience. Your responsibilities include growing and developing strategic customers within state agencies, deepening business relationships, and launching new customer solutions. You will collaborate with AWS Solution Architects, vertical specialists, external partners, public policy, marketing, legal, product, capture/contract, sales peers, and executive leadership to define, identify, and pursue key opportunities.

Work with agency CXOs, decision makers, IT architects, developers, and systems integrators to build consensus and deliver solutions that meet business and technical challenges.

Key Job Responsibilities
  • Drive revenue and cloud adoption in a defined account base.
  • Help advance market and technical strategy.
  • Develop, articulate, and implement account plans aligned to AWS’s strategic direction.
  • Identify specific prospects, partners, and channels to collaborate with to serve customers.
  • Work closely with customers to ensure they understand relevant cloud use cases, succeed with AWS services, and build governance models for cloud operations.
  • Maintain an accurate and robust pipeline and forecast of business opportunities by engaging with prospects, partners, and key customers.
  • Prepare and deliver business reviews to senior management regarding quarterly and yearly strategies that align with revenue growth expectations.
  • Accelerate cloud adoption and ensure customer satisfaction.

A Day in the Life

You will differentiate AWS through deep business and technical relationships and by understanding customer strategic goals. You will have daily interactions with customers and our ecosystem of partners (consulting partners and ISVs) to ensure both near‑term success of migration projects and long‑term transformation of government IT.

About the Team

The AWS State and Local Government team is part of the Worldwide Public Sector (WWPS) Division. We’re experienced sales professionals passionate about serving government missions while making history. We obsess over customer success and view their long‑term goals to improve governmental effectiveness as our purpose.

Basic Qualifications
  • Experience working with, presenting to, and negotiating with C‑level executives, IT, lines of business, procurement, finance, legal, and internal stakeholders for sizeable commercial/enterprise deals.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of technology‑related sales, business development or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrable track record of cultivating a sales territory and consistently meeting and exceeding annual quota.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience selling cloud solutions at a software company or equivalent.
  • Experience with AWS and technology as a service (IaaS, SaaS, PaaS).
  • Experience leveraging GenAI technologies to accelerate customer engagement and increase efficiency.
  • Experience working with state and local government.
Compensation & Benefits

The base salary range for this position is $–$ USD annually. Your Amazon package will include sign‑on payments, restricted stock units (RSUs), and sales incentives. Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and location.
